Value of the combinations
The cards held by a player form a hand. There exist nine combinations
with the poker. The player who cuts down the best hand win the blow.
In most parts, it is the highest combination which carries it. In
others rarer (low), it is the reverse: lowest gains. In others finally
(high-low Split), the pot is divided between highest and lowest, in
equal share.
Hierarchy of the combinations
Here nine combinations of the poker, presented in the decreasing order.
The highest values beat the lower values. For example, a color with the
King beats a color with the Lady and a pair of Ten beats a pair of
Six…
Quinte
Flush and royal quinte flush
A quinte flush is five consecutive cards belonging to the same family.
Strongest of all, the royal quint, is a quint flush with the Ace.
Square
The square joins together the four cards of the same value, more a
fifth unspecified card.
Example a square of Ace more a King.
Full
The full is three of the same cards value and two of the same cards
value.
Example: Three Aces and two King form a full with the Aces by the King.
Color
The color is five nonconsecutive cards belonging to the same family.
Example: 5 cards in heart.
Quinte
The quinte or continuation is five consecutive cards and of family
various.
Example: 7,8,9,10, J form a quinte with the servant.
Brelan
The brelan is three of the same cards value supplied with two scattered
cards.
Example: three nine with an Ace and a Servant
Double
pair
The double pair is two charts of a value, two cards of another value
and a fifth unspecified card.
Example: a pair of Ladies and a pair of Nine and one Ace, so named two
pairs with the Ladies by the Nine with Ace.
The force of the double pair is given by the highest pair of the hand.
Thus, A-A-2-2-3 is higher than K-K-Q-Q-A.
The pair
Comprises two of the same cards value and three scattered cards.
Example: a pair of Aces and one Ten of clover, a King of hearts, and
one Two of spade.
High
card
When a hand does not have any the combinations indicated above and that
you play in a part High (what is the most widespread case), the value
of your hand is determined by its highest card.
Example: an Ace
Low card
When a hand does not have any the combinations indicated above and that
you play a Low part, the value of your hand is given by taking the five
cards lowest of all.
Example: One five which is inevitably best control.
In these hands, the Ace counts for one and it is thus the
lowest card. In a High-Low part, a A-2-3-4-5 hand has heart
bears the name of “wheel”, it is
“max” in bottom and is worth a Fifth Flush in top.
The
Council
Some number of people prefer to play of the parts where the goal of the
part is to hold the lowest hand (Low) or to divide the pot between the
highest hand and lowest (high-low). The most widespread poker low is
Razz, a form of Stud with seven charts (see Stud). The most widespread pokers
high-low are Stud/8 and Omaha/8.
